In preparation for the trip we made tie die shirts and called her favorite restaurant to make dinner reservations. When we finally pulled into her neighborhood (after our 6 hour drive) we parked a street over, linked arms in a long line and made flag out of her shirt by tying it to a stick. Thomas called her at home and told her to go out front and as she did we started marching down the street chanting and waving the flag "Supper... Sisters... Erika!" "Supper... Sisters... Kansas!" Ashley has the 'arrival' on video.
We spent the rest of our afternoon catching up on her patio until it was time for dinner. There is never any shortage of laughs with this group, which is one of the many reasons I love these girls as much as I do. After dinner we put our PJ's on and hung out on the couch until everyone was beyond exhausted and ready for sleep! We used the iPad photo app to take distorted pictures of ourselves. Ashley put it best, although we could barely understand her in her fit of laughter; "there is so much joy in this heart right now". Maybe that was a 'you had to be there' kind of moment :)
We woke up and had breakfast at a nearby cafe and then shopped 'til we dropped at a few of Erika's favorite neighborhood boutiques. After shopping we said our goodbyes. I couldn't help shedding a few tears, but who is surprised by that? Erika is like a big sister to me after our years of living together. We missed her before we pulled out of her driveway! Here are some pictures from our trip.
Love you E!
